Where It All Started

I grew up in one of the poorest counties in the state of Georgia. As a little girl, I spent hours in my backyard dollhouse "teaching" with homemade lesson plans, lining up stuffed animals as my students. My mother was an educator, and watching her pour into her students planted a seed in me that never stopped growing.

By high school, I was volunteering in her special education classroom and discovered the joy of watching a student's face light up when something finally clicks. I graduated from public school with my Associate's degree in Business Administration — and that drive carried me forward.

Finding My Path

After high school, I initially pursued accounting, but something felt off. It wasn't until I took a single elementary education course that everything shifted. I knew, without a doubt, that I was meant to be in a classroom.

With the support of the E.D.G.E. scholarship, I began teaching full-time as a senior at Georgia Southern University. After graduation, I went on to teach third and fifth grades in Boston, Massachusetts.

An Unexpected Turn

Teaching was my whole world, so when unexpected health challenges forced me to step away from the classroom, it was heartbreaking. Mold in my classroom triggered serious health concerns that I couldn't ignore, and I had to make the impossible decision to leave.

But giving up on education was never an option. Determined to keep making a difference, I pursued a Master's degree in Design and Technology and began pouring my creativity into educational resources. On a leap of faith, I launched a TikTok channel to share my work with other teachers. Within weeks, my first teacher drive began to grow into something I never expected.

"While my path looks different than I imagined, I've found a new purpose: supporting teachers and staying connected to education in a meaningful way. Every resource I create is infused with the same passion that began in that little white dollhouse years ago."

Teacher Butterflies Today

Today, my resources are used in classrooms across the country. Teacher Butterflies is the newest expansion of the Mega Teacher Drive, and it's become so much more than a resource library. It's a community where real teachers connect, share, and find beautiful, engaging materials without spending their entire paychecks.

I may not be standing in front of a classroom anymore, but I'm still a teacher at heart. This is my way of making sure every educator has what they need to spread their wings and fly.

The Storyteller Behind the Scenes

Originally from outside of Boston, Massachusetts, Asa is the Co-Founder of Teaching with Grace Ann and a driving force behind the expansion of Teacher Butterflies. As Manager of Collaborations, Head of Technology & Systems, and videographer, he wears many hats — and wears them well.

Asa graduated as the top graduate from Georgia Southern University's College of Journalism. During his time there, he was part of Your News Room in the year it won two prestigious awards. He has an eye for videography and a gift for telling a story that resonates.

What He Does for Teacher Butterflies

Asa manages all collaborations and partnerships, keeps the technology and systems running smoothly, and brings the brand to life through video content. From filming to editing to building out the behind-the-scenes infrastructure, he makes sure everything works seamlessly so Grace can focus on creating.

He currently holds a position as a Digital Marketing Specialist at a company in downtown Boston. On his days off, you can find Asa playing in his soccer league or helping Grace behind the scenes with Teacher Butterflies.

A Letter from Asa

Before I met Grace, I never understood what went into teaching. Then, watching her throughout her teaching career, I saw how much teachers put into it — the heart, the magic, and the developmentally appropriate practices.

When Grace left the classroom, I wasn't sure what her next steps were going to be, but I believed in her. She was someone who could take an anchor chart and turn it into a full portrait, a Google Slide and make it look like a real-life living room, and so many other things.

When she began posting on TikTok, the first two months we would laugh about "what if this actually worked?" But then, in the beginning of January 2024, she started slowing down on posting, and I had to ask her why she wasn't still posting. Through a little encouragement, she got back on track and has not stopped since.

I am so proud of her work, and I am proud to be by her side to help her support teachers worldwide. I see her heart and the long hours she puts into these resources and serving her community, and let me tell you — it's real. This is not some big organization that says "we care about teachers" then behind the scenes is not aligning with those words.

I am excited for the future and to continue serving such incredible people.

P.S. Shoutout to Rowley, my favorite teacher from 7th grade.
